What your treatment quote covers

A hospital estimate is not the whole cost of your trip. Here is what is normally inside the quote, and what you should budget for separately.

Usually in the quote

Confirmed in writing before you travel.

  • Surgeon, anesthetist and team fees
  • Operation theatre charges
  • Hospital room for the planned stay
  • Routine tests and medicines during admission
  • Standard implants, stents or consumables
  • Nursing care and meals in hospital

Budget for separately

Depends on your plan and health.

  • Medical visa, flights and travel insurance
  • Hotel or apartment stay before and after discharge
  • Premium implants or upgraded room category
  • Extra ICU days or complications
  • Follow-up scans, tests and medicines after discharge
  • Local transport, interpreter and food for attendants

What changes the final price

Two patients with the same diagnosis can receive different quotes. These are the usual reasons.

Hospital and city
Large multi-specialty hospitals in metro cities charge more than smaller centres. Both can be accredited and safe.
Your condition
Age, other illnesses and how advanced the problem is decide how complex the treatment will be.
Surgical technique
Robotic and minimally invasive methods cost more but may shorten recovery and hospital stay.
Implant or device
Brand, material and technology change the price. Your doctor will explain which option suits you.
Room category
Shared, private and suite rooms are priced differently for every day of your stay.
Length of stay
Recovery that takes longer than planned adds hospital and accommodation costs.

Ask for the estimate in writing. It should list every line above, so nothing surprises you later. Send your reports for a free estimate

Plan your total budget, not just the surgery

Treatment is the largest cost, but not the only one. Here is what to plan for at each stage of your visit to India.

  1. Before you travel

    Usually 1 to 3 weeks

    • Doctor-reviewed treatment plan and written estimate
    • Medical visa for you and one attendant
    • Flights and travel insurance
    • Any tests your doctor asks for at home
  2. While you are in India

    Depends on your treatment

    • Hospital treatment, as per your estimate
    • Airport pickup and local transport
    • Hotel or apartment near the hospital
    • Meals, SIM card and interpreter if needed
  3. After discharge

Until your doctor clears you to fly

    • Recovery days in a nearby stay
    • Follow-up checks and reports
    • Medicines to carry home
    • Online follow-up with your Indian doctor

Costs differ by city

The same procedure can be priced differently across cities and hospitals. Ask us to compare two or three options for your case.

Delhi NCR

Many large super-specialty hospitals and the busiest international airport, so flights are easy to find.

Mumbai

Home to major cancer and transplant centres, with a wide choice of hotels near hospitals.

Chennai

Long known for heart care, joint replacement and transplants, and popular with patients from the region.

Bengaluru

Strong in brain, heart and cancer care, with a mild climate that suits recovery.

Hyderabad

Well-regarded hospitals for orthopedics, fertility and cancer, often with shorter travel inside the city.

Kolkata

An option for patients from neighbouring countries, with experienced hospitals and a lower cost of stay.

Paying for treatment in India

Clear payment steps help you plan with confidence. This is how payment normally works, and we confirm every detail with you in writing.

How you pay
Payments go to the hospital against an itemised bill. Ask us which methods your hospital accepts, such as bank transfer, card or cash in Indian rupees.
Advance deposit
Some hospitals ask for an advance before admission. The amount depends on the treatment and is stated in your estimate.
Final bill
You settle the final bill at discharge. If the treatment goes beyond the plan, your doctor explains why before extra charges are added.
Refunds
Unused advance amounts are returned as per the hospital's policy. We share that policy with you before you pay.
Insurance
Many international insurance plans do not cover treatment abroad. Check with your insurer first, and we can supply the documents they ask for.
